Poignant Departure

My womb was her home.
The beat of my heart
lulled her to sleep.

With her sudden kicks,
we played short games.
The first time she cried
brought tears to my eyes.

Wasn’t I only happy-
but rather, JOYFUL!
Oh! The bond that we shared:
a memory to cherish!

Alas, I have to leave…
Against my will,
I bid farewell.

Helplessly,
she cried my name.
With a heavy heart,
I closed the door.

I paved the path
with my warm tears.
Dragging my breath,
I sighed on each step.

I left my daughter
against my will…
the mere thought of it
still make me weep.
